Pounded Yam and Egusi

Traditional pounded yam and egusi soup is enjoyed as a main dish that is eaten with the hands in Nigeria. It involves pinching the ball of pounded yam and dipping it in the soup to be consumed.

The nature of eating pounded yam and egusi is very gestural and requires the individual to really be engaged in the process of eating. The finger clamp tool is a design intervention to assist individuals that are participating in the eating of pounded yam and soup.

Pounded yam and egusi soup retains its traditional format and is accompanied by finger clamp tool that encourages users not familiar with eating with their hands to be comfortable doing so through tactile engagement.
